How SkyFlow handles data, device storage, and external services.

What SkyFlow Stores on Your Device

SkyFlow uses browser localStorage under the key skyflow.state.v1 solely to persist your local user preferences:

Temperature unit selection (°C / °F).
Your saved favorite cities list (up to 10 cities).
Your recent search history (up to 5 cities).
Last selected curated hub city.
Telemetry dock visibility and reduced motion preferences.

What SkyFlow Does NOT Store

SkyFlow is entirely serverless and database-free. We do not require account registration, create user profiles, set tracking cookies, or collect analytics on third-party ad networks. Edge functions maintain only anonymous, transient in-memory rate-limiting counters to prevent API abuse.

Third-Party Services

To deliver live weather telemetry and conversational assistance, SkyFlow connects to the following external APIs:

WeatherAPI.com: Proxied via serverless edge functions to return real-time atmospheric metrics, 3-day forecast outlooks, and geocoding search results.
BigDataCloud: Client-side reverse geocoding receives your device coordinates only when you explicitly click the "Use my location" button.
Groq: Receives your chat prompts along with the active weather context to generate AI meteorological responses.

Clearing Your Data

You can erase all persisted data at any time by opening the Settings drawer inside the app and clicking Reset to defaults. Alternatively, you can clear your browser storage via DevTools → Application → Local Storage → Delete skyflow.state.v1.
